Had DTC P1395 about 2 weeks ago and today i had P1396, any help for a systematic way to find out what needs to be replaced so i don't buy parts that are not needed or waste money would be great. Thanks in advance

The glow plug system is monitored when the glow plugs are commanded on for more than 35 seconds and battery voltage is between 11.5-14 volts.
DTC P1395 or P1396 will set on the bank that is reading less than 39 amps. Loose fitting pins in the circuit connectors causing high resistance or high-resistance glow plugs on that bank could be the cause. A shorted circuit or low-resistance glow plugs on the opposite bank could also be the cause. Each bank needs to draw more than 39 amps. Hope that helps

My truck has 122,xxx miles on it and i was wondering if i had reached the service interval for for my glowplugs, in other words how many miles until they wear out? What your saying makes sense, even if i were to go thru the glow plug system and check continuity on wires i don't want to ignore the tightness of the pins and terminals in the harnesss under the valve covers or anywhere else on the system.

Do you have hard starts during the winter? If not, I wouldn't stress on it. Clear the code, if it comes back again, maybe start thinking about pulling the VC. My philosophy is, don't mess with it. LOL
J/K
But I wouldn't stress about those codes too much unless you have an actual hard start problem.

No hard starts ever, i live in Southern California and winter for me means mid to low 50's. What do you mean by VC? I am not upto date on the acronyms :^)
