I have a '95 k-3500 with a 6.5 t/d and I am looking at having to replace the injector pump for a grand....
Anyone know if a gas 454 will fit the 4 speed auto tranny...if so that would be an easy swap.

As far as I know the engine will bolt up to that tranny, GM was pretty good at making things interchangeable. I know for sure that a 350 will bolt directly in place of a 6.2/6.5 with no problems, you may have to change motor mounts for the big block though. What year model 454 do you have, a later model engine will require a lot more work in the form of wiring all the computer *** in.

My only question for you is, and dont take offense to this, but are you crazy. Why would you want to swap a good 6.5 for a junk 454, that motor was always a joke for Chevrolet I have owned 4 of them and never could drive them, they was always in the shop and when they weren't i couldn't afford the gas for them. Anyway that is just my opinion, and if you will post back with some more details on what you are swapping in to ur truck, I'll try and help as much as I can.

It's not an easy swap because the gas engines run on vacuum assist and the diesels are hydraulic assist, so you'll need a donor vehicle for the parts you don't have.

My advice is to look online for a better deal for the injection pump.  Start with SS Diesel and ask for Walt .... these folks are the GM diesel gods and will help you out the right way.
