Hell yea man! I have a customer with a mint 1999 E350 as of 1 year ago he had 780,000 miles on it!! I replaced the turbo on it and the fuel pump last I saw the truck. It had the original motor, 2nd trans and original axle. IDK how many injectors he put in it or any other components, but the van is a Livery vehicle running from JFK and LaGuardia airports here in NYC 24/7!

I've heard lots of stories, but in person, I saw a 474,000-mile '00. And it was getting ready to sled pull in the stock class at the local county fair.

I know quite a few Old Body Style 7.3 owners with 250K or better.

Holy Smokes Sleeper! your whole family drives psd's that's so sweet. My Mom has a 2008 6.4 dually with 40,000 kms, not that impressive. but my 6.0 is at 291,000 kms only thing that went wrong on my motor was 4 injectors (a few more just dropped off) the e.g.r valve plugged up once, and the turbo got a cleaning. The rest of engine work was just performance or preventative measures.

It depends on what you use your truck for and how you drive it. If your grandma drives it on the highway most of its life with it on cruise control at 65mph then of course it'll last for a long- long time. On the other hand, If you treat it like a truck and use it for work and have to hold it to the floor riding the redline every 5 minutes then it'll take some life out of it, but either way you can count on at least 250K miles out of a 7.3 with proper maintenance. I have ~180K miles on my truck but it's on engine #2 - #1 threw a rod at 155K. Also, have a 06- 6.0L F-350 KR in my hauling fleet (It hauls ~16K lbs of concrete/sidewalk to the crusher 8 hours a day 5 days a week) and it does have almost 230K miles on it and over 9K hours on the engine but it has also been in the shop probably 50 times and cost 2-3K every time it goes, but it is still running the original transmission; it's never had a problem. The 08 6.4 KR F-350 has had ~80K trouble free miles so far. These trucks are worked to the ground every day - they aren't papas pride and joy - They're just fully loaded 4x4 work trucks -
2003 F-250 CC/SB, FX4, factory 20's w/325's, 24V P-Pumped Cummins, 191 Delivery valves, 4K GSK, tork-tek OFV, rack kit, fully modified AFC, 5" straight pipe exhaust, Intake, Built Tranny- There's probably some other stuff I forgot about...  (Had a 7.3)

I drive a 1996 F250 7.3 Powerstroke. She's been modified, of course and
Parts have needed to be replaced and such, but that's a given
With any vehicle. Wear and tear. My truck Has 344000 miles on her, and shes still running strong. To keep a vehicle running that long you have to know how to take care of it.  Includes regular oil changes, fluid changes, and maintenence. Coolant, for example if it's not changed every so often will eat away your cooling system. Obviously, because powerstrokes use the HEUI system, oil changes are pretty important. The Cummins engines are nicknamed the million mile engine for a reason, they run forever. But like i said, anything without proper care and maintainence will go quicker than an enginw that is taken care of. Id be surprised if i didnt get 500k out of my motor. All diesels have their pros and cons, but at the end of the day we're all part of the diesel family.

Welcome 444.

You bring up a couple of excellent points.  True, we are all in the family if we drive oil burners.  Fact, any engine will last many years, and give lots of reliable service if properly maintained and cared for.

It's true; there are hundreds of Cummins engines on the road today with a Million miles (or more), and still going strong. Good luck with your rig.

Regards, and thanks for the comments.

I just bought a1997 Powerstroke from a one owner with all maintenance records , the truck is clean and the engine pulled my 21ft skeeter rig no problem . I'm hope it last a long time as I have never had an older diesel like this . The truck is straight and interior very clean so I would put another motor in it if I had to .I've been told just change oil every 3000 miles with a new fuel filter and it should go a long ways , I hope so .
