I have 2000 f250 with a auto 4r100 and im gettin ready for a rebuild after 227,000+ miles and i was looking at putting in a shift kit and was wondering what a good one is. Im not using it for racing and sled pulling. Just daily driver and pulling trailers

A lot of guys get by with just upgrading the valvebody and adding a good torque converter. If you see clutch material or other debris once you pull the pan to do the shift kit/valvebody stuff, it would be wise to think about a total rebuild.
If you're only going to be doing a shift kit, it won't help the factory torque converter's situation any though. And they're the main weak link from the factory... I would recommend the TransGo Tugger shift kit for towing.
Some good converter options are the Precision Industries Stallion from BTS (Brian's Truck Shop), and John Wood Automotive has a great line of custom, 6.0L-based converters.
John Wood and BTS also sell modified valvebodies as well.

thanks mike! im planning on doing a good rebuild with a quailty torque converter. if upgrading the valve body would help with the shifting then ill do that and forget about the shift kit. i just want a tranny with a lil faster shifting and locks up good. because i want it feeling good and beable to pull the loads with no problems. im goin to look into the valve bodies and everything. thanks again!
