I have a 1993 GMC Subruban K1500 4x4 its current engine is a 5.7L 350 gas engine its okay but a would like to put in a I6 71 Series 7.0L Detroit two stroke diesel and the problem i'm having is will that engine evn fit cause my truck can easily fit a 454 cu in. engine in it and the 7.0L is around 428 cu in. if i remember so it should fit right??
It would be a tight fit but when you factor in the engine weight, roughly 2200 pounds, you'll need to seriously beef up the front end to carry that weight. I'm not even sure a half ton pickup would be able to handle it.If you're seriously considering a swap, I would suggest a Cummins 4BT for this because you'll get a good mix of fuel economy and pulling power.-Kris

Just remember that displacement has little to do with engine dimensions when you're comparing a big block V-8 to an I-6. You will probably at least have to extend the firewall into the cabin a tad to make it fit.Good luck with the swap and keep us posted with your progress!
Sorry dear. can you please explain that in details? I cannot understand that.Trucks
Well, it would definitely be a tight fit. I think you should look for another cummins for better performance.New Generator Berlin
